Dr. Jennifer Melancon, PT, DPT
Hi, my name is Dr. Jennifer Melancon, PT, DPT and “The Scar Lady”. I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy since 2012.
I became interested in healthcare way back in the ninth grade when I became a student athletic trainer for my high school’s football team. I thrived in the role and enjoyed taking care of my athletes and learning about injury rehabilitation. I was a student athletic trainer in college and graduated with a BS in Exercise Science. I earned my DPT from The University of South Alabama and began my career in physical therapy in Abilene, TX in pediatrics.
Why scars? Well, they can impact our bodies, brains, emotions, and movement in massive ways. Many people do not yet know this information, and it can change lives. and enjoyed taking care of my athletes and learning about injury rehabilitation. Over the years, I worked in many settings and am comfortable treating people across the entire lifespan. After a series of events, the Lord led me to start my own company in 2019 called Cedar Physical Therapy and Wellness.
It began as a mobile concierge physical therapy practice in the Dallas area. I quickly realized I wanted to specialize my practice in helping people with scars; these were the cases that lit my soul on fire and were fun for me. When a patient has a significant improvement in function after addressing their skin trauma, it is awesome!
